Blueprint Institute is looking for an early to mid-career professional with relevant experience to join our team as an Executive Officer.
The ideal candidate will have experience in event management, or Executive Assistant experience and an interest in public policy. Professional experience working in a policy setting (e.g., a policy research institute, the public service, a political office, or consulting to the public sector) is desirable. Experience liaising with the media is an advantage. For example, we could envisage hiring a driven and outgoing individual, passionate about events and public engagement, who has worked as an events and/or media manager for an organisation that is actively engaged in public policy or as a staffer in a political office.
We are particularly interested in candidates with the following attributes, which are critical to our team culture:
- diligence in delivering results;
- teamwork and clear communication; and
- attention to detail.
The successful applicant will work across the Blueprint team to organise high-quality events for the public and key stakeholders, and assist in the daily administration and operations of the Institute. As a new think tank, we have a growing set of research interests. The successful applicant will play a central role in political and public outreach to advertise the findings of our research. In 2021, our work will focus on:
- climate and energy policy;
- early learning reform; and
- tax and fiscal reform.
Benefits of this role
Blueprint Institute is a fast-paced and welcoming environment. Every dimension to the organisation is approached with rigour and creativity. We question our assumptions and seek novel perspectives on complex policy questions. The small nature of our team means that a successful candidate will work directly alongside senior leadership.
The Executive Officer will work directly with our CEO, a former MP Staffer, and our diverse Board. With decades of experience in political outreach, public relations, & stakeholder and business engagement, the leadership team will ensure the successful applicant is supported in delivering great events.
Blueprint Institute’s team is based in Sydney and Brisbane. We encourage flexible working arrangements, and largely work from home, though this may change in the future. We are open to discussing location and work hours, part-time arrangements will be considered. Office-based work may be possible.
About Blueprint Institute
High-quality policy research and public engagement is at the heart of everything we do. However, we are also a start-up—we aim to disrupt the think tank landscape in Australia by providing novel insights to Ministers, MPs, and thought leaders.
As a new think tank, we value curiosity, integrity, and diligence over formal qualifications or ‘signalled’ experience. If you are excited about improving public policy and Australian society, but have an unconventional work experience or educational background, please do get in touch.
Compensation and working hours
Compensation will be in the range of $65-80k per annum. Compensation will be finalised based on the experience and skills of the successful candidate. We are happy to consider part-time or flexible working arrangements.
