Blueprint Institute was established in the era of COVID-19, in which Australians have witnessed how tired ideologies have been eclipsed by a sense of urgency, pragmatism and bipartisanship. While we have achieved much, a new urgency is required to deal with the recession and job losses to come. Our leaders can rise to the challenge: we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to rethink and recast Australia to be more balanced, prosperous, resilient, and sustainable.
Our principles will guide us as we provide a blueprint for managing shared challenges and opportunities.
- Independent. Independent. We are fiercely independent in everything we do. We are not beholden to funders, political parties or corporations.
Optimistic. We believe bold thinking can unlock unrealised potential in people, technology and the economy without sacrificing the best of Australia’s democracy, society and environment.
- Evidence-based. We stand for evidence-based policymaking and a rigorous application of the scientific method. We are observant and analytical with a healthy dose of scepticism.
Open-minded. We promote fresh thinking and believe in the free exchange of ideas. We reject dogma and prefer a mental challenge over getting stuck in our ways. We practice the art of listening and respect alternative points of view.
- Forward thinking. We reject short-termism and believe policymaking is best when it transcends party politics and the electoral cycle to truly tackle the challenges of the future. We believe in innovation, collaboration and human ingenuity to create a future that is better than the past.
