Blueprint Institute is looking for an experienced, early career professional to join our team as a Policy Associate.
The ideal candidate will have a strong public policy and/or economics background, ideally at the Honours, Masters or PhD level. Professional experience working in a policy setting (e.g., in a policy research institute, the public service, or consulting to the public sector) would be beneficial.
In addition to the minimum requirements of strong training, aptitude, and experience, we are particularly interested in candidates with the following attributes, which are critical to our identity:

The successful applicant will conduct cutting-edge research and analysis, and help develop policy reforms that benefit Australia. As a new think tank, we have a growing set of research interests, with the successful applicant playing a central role in our future agenda. Our work currently focuses on:
- Climate and energy policy
- Early learning reform
- Tax and fiscal reform
About Blueprint Institute
Blueprint Institute is an independent think tank that exists to improve the quality of public policy discussion and outcomes in Australia. We achieve this through high-quality, evidence-based research that is consistent with market principles and informed by rigorous economic analysis. Role duties include:
- Contributing to reports and broader research agendas
- Writing proposals to meet our research objectives
- Delivering work plans including conducting interviews, analysing data, and synthesising insights into clear messages and policy ideas
- Undertaking and communicating quantitative analysis (including the development of visual materials)
- Consulting with stakeholders to advance our expertise in key research areas
- Engaging with the media where necessary, including writing opinion pieces
- Presenting on behalf of Blueprint Institute to policymakers and the broader public

Our head office is in Sydney but we have staff elsewhere. We encourage flexible working arrangements and are happy to accommodate the circumstances of our chosen candidates. We are open to discussing location and work hours. Our team largely works from home, though this may change in the future. Office-based work will be increasingly common post-COVID. Our salaries are competitive for the public policy sector.
